How to plan your first solo trip?
When you’re traveling with someone else, you share each discovery, but when you are alone, you have to carry each experience with you like a secret, something you have to write on your heart, because there’s no other way to preserve it.
For planning a solo trip one must –
Decide the place you want to explore
It doesn’t matters which place you go at each and every place has its own tiny world in itself, what matters is with whom you go, with whom you enjoy and feel lively the most. And the most suitable companion for one is he himself. The real adventure comes when you step out of your comfort zone. So make sure your destination is one that gives you more of memories and adventure. It could be a popular tourist destination and where a good tourist infrastructure is in place.
Know how to get there and where to stay –
One must research in advance everything about the respective place. Research is a crucial part of planning a solo trip. It also boosts confidence in oneself as he/she knows everything about the place in advance. The first-night stay must surely be booked so that you don’t have to get in trouble with your luggage at the last moment. You can also book a hotel or have your stay packages beforehand. There are many websites available for that like TripAdviser, Booking.com etc.
Must have in your backpack
The first thing that must be kept in mind is that never pack too much so you have to waste little time worrying about your bag’s safety. Also, more items in your backpack will make your journey harder as taking care of a heavy bag and carrying it all way long isn’t easy. Pack miniature versions of toiletries and accessories. Don’t forget to pack a pepper spray for an emergency. Keep a journal to record your travels, and most importantly, keep a torch, lighter, water bottle along with you.
Travel in a public transport
While having a solo trip, one must always use public transportation facility for traveling as it is much safer. One can get the updates of public transportation facilities online. In a public vehicle, it’s much easier to meet people if you use shared/public transports. Who knows you might just get your travel buddy for your journey.
Keep in touch when you are away
Today with such affordable and all time available networks it has become much easier to stay in touch with your dear ones. Give a friend/ family member/ partner your itinerary before you leave and plan to check in with them so often. Solo travel is really fun but your safety is the first priority so also make sure you have a travel insurance.
The most important thing that must be kept in mind while traveling solo is to have confidence in your own. On your first solo trip, it’s only natural to be nervous. When you’re walking around, stroll with confidence and look like you know what you’re doing and where you’re going. A map to get directions, whether it be an actual paper map or google maps are a must while traveling alone.
Make sure your valuables are never together in one bag, and always keep your cash and cards in different places on your body, as well as your passport. It can be a bit scary to travel on your own, and even lonely at times, but the best way to get past the initial loneliness is to put yourself out there in a public or crowded area and have a communication with travelers near you.
Solo travel is easier than you think and it’s more rewarding and intense than daily life. Give it a try, it’s better than staying at home.
