Cycling trip from Haridwar to Dhanolti – Uttrakhand
The roar of the wind, the views of the world going by, and the ride of a bicycle, the road ahead and you. There is an immense amount of romantic freedom and solitude that traveling bicycle offers. This trip of mines was as perfect as a round pizza. It was overloaded with fun, enthusiasm, and a lot of adventure. On every other step, we found interesting toppings of excitement, new experiences, amusement, and thrill.
Day-1- Explore Haridwar
This fun-loving and adventurous trip of mines begins with my 3 mates. We, 4 Musketeers, began our thrilling journey towards the beautiful place, Haridwar. We started our journey from Delhi at 1 am. Early in the morning we reached Haridwar and saw the beautiful sunrise in the beautiful city, Haridwar. Our main aim was to have a bicycle ride, exploring the places on a bicycle was what we all wanted. In the morning, we had our breakfast and went outside to rent a bicycle. But they weren’t available in Haridwar. So we went to nearby places in Haridwar.
We there went to Ram Jhula, Laxman Jhula. These are the iron bridges in Rishikesh and are famous a lot. We saw the prettiest and peaceful Ganga aarti that evening. It was all lightning with diyas. That place was now so soothing. The diyas floating in the river gave us the most beautiful view. We enjoyed a lot on this day. We spent our night in Haridwar itself.

Next morning we started traveling to Rishikesh. We were so excited as we would get new experience there. Also, we’ll get our bicycles there. So we all were filled with enthusiasm and joy. As soon as we reached Rishikesh, we rented 4 bicycles for us. We were now on cloud nine. Such a pleasant weather, with our bicycles, we four friends enjoying to the fullest. We started our journey on our bicycle to Dehradun. In our way, we saw Rajaji National Park from where elephants, deer etc anything can come anytime on road. So as we entered the forest, we saw the immense beauty of the roads.
There were trees and greenery on both sides of the road. The road was somewhere upwards and somewhere downwards. It was difficult to ride on an upward slope. So we started walking with our bicycles upwards. Last 10 kms were very difficult to walk. Somehow we reached Dehradun at 6 pm. We searched for a hotel and booked it. We had our dinner in the hotel and slept as we were feeling very tired and sleepy.
Day-3-Traveling to Mussoorie
The next morning, the new sunrise brought new and fresh excitement in us. We had our breakfast and again started our journey. Our next stop was Mussoorie. We had to ride bicycles in the mountains. We were so amazed by seeing the beautiful scenes in our way. Mussoorie was 20 kms away and all the way was straight upward sloping on mountains. So we started walking in the slopes with our cycles. In our way, we talked, we laughed, we sang songs, we made fun of each other, we enjoyed a lot in our way to Mussoorie. It was difficult very difficult to walk on a straight upward slope but we didn’t feel much tired as we all were enjoying each others company.
Midnight cycling on Mall road-Mussoorie
Somehow we reached having fun at our destination. We booked a cheap hotel and had a rest. We had dinner and after having dinner all of us went to the terrace and the view was so fascinating. Cold air, greenery everywhere, fresh environment, it was so pleasant staying there. After some time one our friends slept but remaining all of us took our bicycles and at 2 am we went to Mussoorie mall road. Riding bicycle had become more exciting at night in such a charming weather.
The road was all empty at this time. Pleasant weather and no one on the roads, we three riding bicycles, the feeling was awesome. At late night too, we all were so energetic that we also did a bicycle race with each other.
This night of ours is unforgettable.
Cycle riding in Night – Mussoorie mall road:-
“ A moment lasts all of a second but a Memory lives on forever “.
Similarly, this time was so precious for all of us. We did lots of adventures. We went on the top point of the mall road and started shouting funny phrases as we love traveling, we are the best and many more and the echo of our sound was coming back from the mountains. It was so much fun that we got goosebumps. We were so excited and so happy that we had butterflies in our stomach. I literally loved this journey of mines so much that I wished that moment stopped here and I never had to go back. After having all this fun, we rested on the road for some time and then again rode back to the hotel and slept. Next morning, we got up with full loaded energy, had our breakfast and again started riding to places in Mussoorie.
We first took our bicycles and started our ride to Kempty falls. Me and one of my friends went from a shortcut to reach the base of kempty falls and the other two rode from the normal road. The road from which I went was becoming dangerous now. There was a very narrow road and if we stumbled a little bit too or a tiny wrong movement done by us could cost much to our lives. If we made a wrong move we would straightly fall in the deep chasm. Our hands and legs started shivering. We were so scared now that we immediately wanted to come out from that area. Somehow we came out from that area and came on the normal road.
Now we started our journey to Dhanaulti. The roads of Dhanaulti were so beautiful and so dangerous like “Beauty and the Beast”, the place was so damn pretty covered with so many trees but also risky at the same time. Before 5 kms to Dhanaulti, suddenly snowfall started. This made our journey more adventurous. Riding bicycle became more and more difficult as we moved forward. Our bicycles were slipping in the snow. In our way, we enjoyed playing in the snow and had lots of fun. That place offered us the views of heaven. All white snow everywhere, top mountain ranges gave us a mesmerizing view.
Return to Rishikesh
At Dhanaulti, we took rest for some time and enjoyed the perfect views of the place. Then we started our journey back to our place. First, we went back to Rishikesh, we did water rafting there. Rafting was such a cool experience with friends, the ups and downs. It was like a roller coaster ride. From, Rishikesh we went to Haridwar through water rafting. From Haridwar, our journey started back to our home. But deep inside I didn’t want to go back.
This was the finest experience of mines with my friends, like kids we shouted on mountains to hear the echo, wandering on empty roads in midnight, riding bicycles on mountains and in the snow. Nothing more adventurous could be more than this. Also, this trip made us understand the true value of nature. Without mountains and trees, there would be no beauty of nature.
“The most beautiful gift of nature is that it gives one pleasure to look around and try to comprehend what we see”.
